THE LINK BETWEEN PURE FOOD AND FINE DINING

Taking the significantly historic and making it, twenty-first century new is what is happening at the Dan'l Webster Inn.

The D. W. AQUAFARM, a state-of-the-art concept in healthy, environmentally-balanced food for fine dining, was established in 1993.

The D.W. AQUAFARM facility integrates the production of hybrid tilapia with growing vegetables, herbs and flowers in a closed circuit environment. This latest technological venture will enable the Dan'l Webster Inn to serve superb hydroponic salad greens, herbs, and edible flowers completely free of any harmful pesticides. Several hydroponic systems have been designed to best suit the different crops and to maximize production and quality.

The Dan'l Webster Inn is one of only a few fine dining establishments in the United States to make the commitment to grow its own fish, greens, herbs and edible flowers. The Inn is making a commitment to quality, food presentation and the health protection of its guests. This is also a first in the development of a commercially sustainable eco-business in hydroponics and aquaculture on Cape Cod.

The Aquafarm facility, operating in a large greenhouse, is totally temperature controlled year-round, by an electronic environmental sensor system. It includes features such as automatically inflating and deflating air vents, air heaters, automatic air circulation systems and fog generators to protect plants when the temperature becomes too hot.
