Discover the City of Presidents

"kwin-zee"

Quincy is often referred to as the City of Presidents. The second and sixth U.S. Presidents John Adams and his son, John Quincy Adams, were born here. The home of this remarkable family is now the Adams National Historic Site. Also located here are the farmhouses where both presidents were born. They are the earliest surviving presidential birthplaces.

Quincy was also the birthplace of John Hancock, who is referred to by some historians as the "First" American President. He led the rebellious colonies through the difficult time of the American Revolution as president of the Continental Congress. Hancock's birthplace was on the present site of Adams Academy, a former boys school and now a museum for the Quincy Historical Society.

The tourist information center located at City Hall has literature about the Quincy Historic Trail and other attractions.
